David Jacobson is a founder and partner of Required Reading, alongside Adam Sjoberg and Seanne Winslow. His diverse experience as a producer, business strategist, and film & TV development executive has included work with leading artists and filmmakers including Laura Ziskin, Alvin Sargent, Lee Daniels, Marc Webb, Ringo Starr, Dave Stewart, Nasir Jones, and Kanye West, as well as corporate and non-profit brands including Bose, Microsoft, and Stand Up 2 Cancer.

Most recently David and his partners produced Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 album release/fashion line premiere/performance art show at Madison Square Garden featuring over 1000 dramatically styled models which was streamed around the world to over 20-million viewers.

Prior to that, David co-produced the high profile independent feature film, LEE DANIELS’ THE BUTLER, alongside Pamela Williams, directed by Lee Daniels and starring Oprah Winfrey, Forest Whitaker, Robin Williams, Jane Fonda, John Cusack, Alan Rickman, Liev Schreiber, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Terrence Howard, Lenny Kravitz, and Mariah Carey. He was instrumental in helping structure and raise over $32-million in independent financing for the project, produced on-set through all of principal photography in Louisiana, and helped oversee post-production and delivery to The Weinstein Company, who bought the film in an auction scenario. The film went on to win number one in North American box office in its first three weekends and gross over $180-million worldwide.

He also produced the global breakdancing & hip-hop documentary film, SHAKE THE DUST, directed by Adam Sjoberg and executive produced by Nasir “Nas” Jones. The story follows groups of B-Boys and B-Girls on the streets of Colombia, Cambodia, Uganda, and Yemen and gives a fresh look at the power of community, dance, and hip-hop as tools for positive social change; He also collaborated with director Adam Sjoberg on the critically acclaimed documentary film I Am Sun Mu, about a North Korean defector turned subversive political pop artist.

Prior to Required Reading, David joined Dave Stewart’s innovative content, music, and technology company, Dave Stewart Entertainment, as head of Film, TV, and business strategies where he oversaw a diverse slate of feature, TV, and digital content, including SONGLAND, an upcoming music competition format at NBC.
